During High School:

• All-State First Team in 1986 as TE and could have been at LB as well
• Grid-Hoop all-state
• Considered one of best prep athletes from San Diego area in 1980s

During college:

• USC college

Post-college:

• 1st round draft pick
• 17 years in NFL (13 with hometown Chargers)
• NFL Def POY in 1992
• 12-time All-Pro
• Posthumously inducted Pro FB Hall of Fame 2015
